Canterbury's Jake Holsinger: Student Citizen, Scholar-Athlete, All-Around Great Guy
Jake was just honored as Canterbury's "Citizen of the Term." It is a recognition bestowed on students who go above and beyond the ordinary academic demands.

ST. PETERSBURG - Jake Holsinger, a junior at Canterbury Prep School, earns high marks as an athlete and student. He's also a great kid -- a quality not learned in textbooks but often in the hard knocks of life.
Jake was just honored as Canterbury's "Citizen of the Term." It is a recognition bestowed on students who go above and beyond the ordinary academic demands. The Student Citizen shows compassion and a sense of responsibility toward others and their community.
Jake, whose mom is his role model, displays that each day, say those who know him best. "Jake is a true leader on and off the field,” says Dr. Scottie Smith, Canterbury’s Upper School Principal.

This football player and academic athlete really shines by his devotion to his twin younger brothers, Noah and Harrison. Both boys have Type 1 diabetes. Since 2003, Jake has dedicated a great deal of time to supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Congratulations to Jake Holsinger, our Patch Whiz Kid of the Week.

Your inspiration? Seeing other people work hard inspires me to work even harder. Another thing that inspires me is thinking of my ideal (reasonable) future and working to make it come true.
The secret to your success: I believe that I am very easy to talk to, which helps out tremendously. It also helps that I try to be reasonable during discussions. It is important to know and realize when you are wrong during a discussion so that you can learn from it.
Your role model: My mother, Dawn Holsinger
College/career goals: I would like to attend the University of Florida, Georgia Institute of Technology, or Florida International University. My career goal is to be an engineer.
