Cause Of Small Plane Crash In St. Pete Under Investigation
There is still no word from the Federal Aviation Administration on the cause of a plane crash near Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- There is still no word from the Federal Aviation Administration on the cause of a plane crash near Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg Wednesday, Nov. 28.
The U.S. Coast Guard was notified at 12:35 p.m. that a small single-engine Cessna 172 plane had crashed into the bay about 100 yards offshore from the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.
When the Coast Guard response boat arrived, boaters who saw the plane go down were already helping the plane's four passengers from the water. The passengers were taken aboard the Coast Guard vessel and transported to Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg where St. Petersburg Fire Rescue was waiting. Three were treated at the scene and a fourth was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
