Coast Guard Rescues 3 After Boat Overturns Near Clearwater Beach
The Coast Guard reminds all boaters to have an emergency marine radio onboard their boat at all times in case they need immediate help.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters from an overturned 8-foot boat near Clearwater Beach May 7, according to a Coast Guard press release. Three people fell into the water after their boat overturned.
A boater nearby called a watchstander through the marine emergency channel at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg and deployed one of the response boats at nearby Coast Guard Station Sand Key.
The crew rescued the three individuals and no injuries were reported.

“Thankfully a good Samaritan was nearby with a VHF radio to relay the distress,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Zach Campbell, coxswain on the case. “We encourage all mariners to invest in safety equipment and carry proper distress signals on board, so you can get an immediate response if an emergency occurs on the water.”
