Community Health Centers of Pinellas will host a grand opening celebration for its Lealman Center on Thursday, June 7, beginning at 10 a.m.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Community Health Centers of Pinellas will host a grand opening celebration for its Lealman Center on Thursday, June 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at 4950 34th St. N., St. Petersburg.
The ceremony will celebrate CHCP’s recent expansion of services to the low-income Lealman neighborhood where residents will now have access to pediatric, adult and gynecological care, as well as care for diabetic and cardiovascular diseases to insured and uninsured patients.
In 2016, CHCP was awarded a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to renovate and expand its property in Lealman.

The renovation of the property and building created a 7,000-square foot state-of-the-art healthcare center, with 3,200 square feet of built-out space and additional room for growth, making it the 11th center in CHCP’s healthcare system.
In addition to primary care, the Lealman Center provides services such as a dietitian, prescription assistance, financial counseling, case management and assistance with behavioral health issues.

There will also be transportation services for patients who need OB-GYN and dental services at other CHCP facilities.
CHCP serves 50,000 individual patients in Pinellas County. Within the next two years, the Lealman Center is projected to provide care for 3,000 patients with more than 9,000 visits on an annual basis.
“We are proud to showcase our newly renovated center to the public and provide our patients with greater access to high-quality care,” said Elodie Dorso, CEO of CHCP. “Our mission is to provide quality healthcare services to all. We do this through compassionate care and providing a place for people to receive affordable, ongoing healthcare.”
CHCP began in 1980 as the vision of Dr. Johnnie Ruth Clarke, a civil rights activist and pioneer in the fight against sickle cell anemia.
In 1985, CHCP opened its first health center – the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Center in St. Petersburg. For more than 30 years, CHCP has been working to improve the health and well-being of people in the communities it serves.
