Don CeSar On 'Ultimate Terrifying Florida Road Trip'

The nine-stop tour includes 'haunted' destinations from all over the Sunshine State.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Florida’s spooky destinations might not be as well-known as some, but it does have its share.

The folks at OnlyInYourState.com, the website dedicated to creating state-based lists, wanted to point out a few of them for readers. To that end, the team there created a nine-stop guide that reportedly contains some of the Sunshine State’s spookiest, most haunted destinations.

The Ultimate Terrifying Florida Road Trip” guide maps out a 900-mile course that covers a nice chunk of the state with creepy stops along the way. St. Petersburg’s Don CeSar hotel is one of the stops.

“The original owner of the Lowes Don CeSar Hotel, Thomas Rowe, is said to haunt the hotel along with his wife,” the authors say, explaining the inclusion of St. Pete’s pink landmark. The only other nearby attraction included is Brooksville’s May-Stringer House. Other stops on the tour include St. Augustine’s Castillo de San Marcos, the entire town of Cassadaga and NASA’s Launch Complex 34 in Cape Canaveral.

To make hitting the road easier, OnlyInYourState even created a Google map with the destinations plotted out. According to Google, the entire drive – stops not included – should take less than 15 hours.

And, while the list includes some truly spectacular destinations, we couldn’t help but notice several Tampa Bay area hotspots of supposed paranormal activity were overlooked, including Clearwater’s Capitol Theatre, The Tampa Theatre and the Ringling College of Art and Design, among others.
