Driver Charged With DUI Manslaughter In 66th St. Fatal Crash: FHP

A driver faces multiple charges after her truck hit and killed a man on his scooter in St. Petersburg, Florida Highway Patrol said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 64-year-old St. Petersburg man died on Tuesday after a truck hit him on his scooter on 66th Street North, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said the driver of the truck, Kaitlynn Sauer, 28, ran a red light at the intersection of 66th Street North and 54th Avenue North when she crashed into the victim.

Sauer was arrested and faces charges of DUI manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation-burglary, FHP said.

Investigators said the victim died at the scene of the crash.

Due to Marsy's Law, FHP will not release the name of the victim.
