Drunken Clam, Vinoy Among Restaurants Cited By State Inspectors
Dead roaches, rodent droppings and soda guns coated with slime are among the violations state inspectors found.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- Dead roaches, rodent droppings and soda guns coated with slime are among the violations Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found at Pinellas County restaurants.
Perrys Restaurant, 3405 34th St. N., St. Petersburg, had 44 violations on Dec. 5. Among them were:
· Basic - Cutting board has cut marks and is no longer cleanable.

· Basic - Rusted sandwich press.
· Intermediate - No proof of required state-approved employee training.

The Vinoy Renaissance St Petersburg Resort, 600 Snell Isle Blvd., St. Pete, had eight citations on Dec. 7 including:
· Basic - Food being prepared outside. Observed cut leafy greens prepped at Clark bar next to pool.
· Basic - Key lime pie on counter being cooled at room temperature.
· High Priority - Five small ant-like insects observed on wall behind hand sink and prep table and four small ant-like insects observed crawling along baseboard in dish area.
· High Priority - Tuna salad being stored at temperatures greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
·· Intermediate - Stained cutting boards.
· Intermediate - No currently certified food service manager on duty with four or more employees engaged in food preparation/handling.
The Drunken Clam, 46 46th Ave., St.Pete Beach, had 14 violations on Dec. 3. They included:
· Basic - Build-up of mold-like substance on curtains, walls and ceiling of walk-in cooler.
· Basic - Ceiling tile in bar area hanging down.
· Basic - Employee beverage container on the prep table in the kitchen.
· Basic - Floor in bar area soiled.
· Intermediate - Hand-wash sink not accessible for employee use at all times.
· Intermediate - Soda gun in bar area spiked with debris and soda gun holster with accumulated slime.
· Intermediate - Clam tags not marked with last date used.
The Treasure Island R Bar, 245 108th Ave., Treasure Island, received 29 violations on Dec. 4. Violations included:
· Basic - Build-up of grease on nonfood-contact surface.
· Basic - Dead roaches on premises. One large dead roach in storage area.
· Basic - Grease accumulated on kitchen floor and under cooking equipment
· Basic - Interior of oven has heavy accumulation of grease.
· Basic - Objectionable odors in both restrooms.
· Basic - Open Dumpster lid.
· Basic - Crab not covered in walk-in cooler.
· Basic - Wall soiled with accumulated black debris in dish=washing area.
· Basic - Wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and/or dust. Behind cook line.
· High Priority - Raw fish stored over cooked pasta and lettuce.
· High Priority - Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings in dry storage area.
· High Priority - Rodent rub marks present along walls.
· High Priority - Employee touched phone with gloves on and did not change gloves to prepare a drink.
· Intermediate - Encrusted material on can opener blade. Soda guns soiled
All Day Breakfast, 7801 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, had four violations on Dec. 8 including
· High Priority - -Butter. milk and ham stored at improper temperatures.
· High Priority - Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area.
Pierogi Grill & Steakhouse, 1535 Gulf To Bay Blvd., Clearwater, had 14 violations on Dec. 4. Among them were:
· Basic - Wall behind fryers and cook top soiled.
· Basic - Wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and/or dust.
· Basic -Walk in cooler wall soiled with brown residue.
· Intermediate - Food prepared on site and held more than 24 hours not properly date marked.
