March is Florida Archaeology Month. The theme this year is Native Plants and Native Peoples. Learn about the ancient Weedon Island pine dugout canoe and active archaeology projects in the bay area. At 1 p.m. Author, I. Mac Perry, will present, Life and Lunch in a 9th Century Indian Village, highlighting the way of life of the Manasota Culture Indians who once lived at Weedon Island. Hands-on archaeology, demonstrations on prehistoric plant uses, ethnobotany walks and free 2011 Florida Archaeology Month posters.
