Event-Based Media Entrepreneur in St. Pete Going to SXSW

Taylor Wallace, a St. Petersburg entrepeneur working on a new event-based media network, will be taking a trip to South by Southwest, and he'll be doing so on the StartupBus.

The bus will be leaving from Tampa on Sunday packed full of Tampa Bay entrepeneurs who have accepted the challenge of coming up with a innovative startup business plan by the time they get to the conference in Austin, TX. South by Southwest (SXSW) begins March 8.

Wallace has been working on a new app called WeVue, which will offer users a new way to participate at events.

WeVue will allow users to upload photos and videos about events they're at and let them see what other people are posting. In addition, users of WeVue can pick out their favorite pictures and videos from the event and create a personalized montage of photos and videos from multiple users.

Wallace and his team have been hard at work on the app and are hoping to release it by late March/early April for free on the App Store.  

The idea for WeVue came from Wallace and his cousin, who is his partner at WeVue, seeing people at large events, like football games, grabbing videos and photos on their phone.

WeVue is Wallace's first forray into the mobile app market. He moved down to Florida from New York to work on it as the product manager.

Although the app is Wallace's first, he comes from a family of entrepreneurs and saw their successes while growing up. When he was younger, he originally didn't want to follow the family tradition and hoped to be a writer until he had a change of heart.

"There's a whole lot of books in the world and not enough successful companies," Wallace said.

While at SXSW, Wallace is looking forward to seeing what others are bringing to the table.

Wallace said he is excited to step up to the challenge of the StartupBus and put his entrepreneurial drive to the test.

"I'm just excited to see what we create in a week and see what the other teams can come up with in a week," Wallace said.
