Ewald's Kubs win 23-18 Slugfest to Tie "Norton's Kits" in 1st.Place

41 runs scored, and fifty-four hits echoed throughout the two-hour and forty-three-minute contest.

Action at North Shore Park on Tuesday, January 24, was a "hit" for almost everyone. The slugfest ended with 41 runs scored, and fifty-four hits echoed throughout the two-hour and forty-three-minute contest.

As a result of a massive assault on the softball, Kubs 23 Kits 18 "Ewald's Kubs" scored a victory and gained a first-place tie in the IntraClub pennant chase.

Of the twenty-four players that filled the line-up card, only two failed to get a hit during the rash of hits and runs. "Ewald's Kubs" victory put them in a first-place tie with the "Norton's Kits. The loss was the third in a row for "Norton’s Kits,” dissolving a three-game lead held on January 17.

Captain Walt Ewald took the ball after 17 batters in relief of Bert Valert pitching for "Ewald’s Kubs.” Both teams settled down in the fourth as they experienced their only scoreless inning of the game. However, “Ewald’s Kubs” scored 12 runs in the last three innings of the seven-inning contest, with “Hannah’s Kids” scoring only 9. To add to the victory.

On Tuesday, January 24, the “Hannah’s Kids”' bats exploded late in the second game action behind the pitching and hitting of Kaz Gora. With three hits John Draeger, David Laramee, and Joe Reinhardt provided plenty of support for Gora. “Kutchinski’s Kids” bats were as cold as the weather that day, producing only six runs on 14 hits as Gora kept them under control from the pitching rubber.
