Gandy Boulevard Cleanup Complete

Work has impeded traffic flow since a tanker truck crash in the area on Tuesday morning.

The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that all lanes of Gandy Boulevard are now open to traffic following Tuesday’s tanker truck crash.

The Tuesday morning crash involved a fully loaded tanker and another work truck. The tanker spilled thousands of gallons of fuel before erupting into flames.

Cleanup of the area involved the removal of tons of contaminated soil and 25,000 gallons of contaminated water, FDOT reported in an email to media. Testing showed that no fuel had managed to penetrate under the bridge wall.
