HealthCare Worker Allegedly Stole Personal Info From Patients

A St. Pete healthcare worker is accused of stealing patients' information and making purchases. Police believe there are more victims.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A healthcare worker in St. Pete allegedly stole patients' credit card information and the St. Petersburg Police Department wants to know if there are possibly more victims.

Juan Carlos Collins was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital, 12 Seventh Avenue North, and AFC Urgent Care, 2241 66th Street, where he was accused of taking patients' personal information and making purchases from Macy's, Macys.com, AT&T, Lyft, Uber and Belk.com, detectives said.

According to authorities, Collins started making these purchases in May, and continued until he was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of personal identification information of another person, fraudulent use of personal identification and fraudulent use of personal identification information on an individual 60-years-old or older.

Investigators believe there could be more victims who haven't realized fraudulent charges yet.

Collins has worked at other healthcare facilities in Tampa Bay, according to detectives.

In some cases, police believe Collins took pictures/photocopied patients' cards for use at a later time.

Detectives encourage anyone who visited a medical facility in St. Pete to check their accounts for fraudulent activity.
