High School Seniors from St. Pete Win $7,000 Scholarships at Rising Stars Competition
Pinellas County high school students compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships at the 2011 Walker's Rising Stars Scholarship Competition Monday evening at Ruth Eckerd Hall.

High school seniors from St. Petersburg dominated competition at the Walker’s Rising Stars show Monday during a sold out show at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Several walked away with $7,000 college scholarships.
Students competed in the performing arts for the chance to win thousands of dollars in Pinellas Education Foundation scholarships. Young singers, dancers, actors, musicians, artists and videographers vied for top honors.
Lydia Baldwin of Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School, who wore a flowing evening gown for her third act performance, drifted through the hallway backstage and stopped. “We’ve all been practicing for months, and it all comes down to this,” she said.
