Homicide Suspect, 18, Surrenders to St. Petersburg Police [UPDATE]

The man was wanted in connection with the Monday evening shooting death of a 19-year-old in a market parking lot, officials said.

An 18-year-old wanted in connection with the Monday homicide of a man who was shot to death while in a car in a St. Petersburg market parking lot turned himself in Tuesday at 7:25 p.m., according to police.

A first-degree murder warrant was issued earlier for Chaz Bynum in connection with the Monday evening shooting of Emmanuel Isaiah Sims, 19, who was sitting in a car in the parking lot of Rajax Meat Market, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Sims was with two friends at about 6:30 p.m. in the lot at 2327 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. S. when shot and killed. He was declared dead at the scene by responders. His two friends were uninjured, police said.
