Kats Open First Week Of Intraclub Competition With Two Victories

With much attention dedicated to opening day ceremonies that included flags, donations, first pitch, and acapella Choir performance of the US, Candian national anthems, and the Club song, The Three-Quarter Century Softball Club (aka Kids and Kubs) opened the first week of intraclub competition
Four games occurred over two days, Tuesday, November 2, and Thursday, November 4, at North Shore Park in St. Petersburg. The Club ends the intraclub competition involving four teams (Kids, Kubs, Kats, Kits) on March 30, 2022.
The Kats, captained by Walt Ewald, was the only team to survive the first week undefeated with wins over the Kids 9-4 on Tuesday and unloaded a 23-10 hit-fest on the Kubs in Thursday’s action. Winning similarly over the Kits 17-5 on Tuesday, the Kubs record dropped to 1-1 after the Thursday loss to the Kats (2-0).

In winning a 13-12 nail-biter over Kids Thursday, the Kits evened their record at 1-1. Losing to the Kats earlier in the week dropped the Kids to 0-2 with games against the Kubs and Kats.
Captain Frank Sirios Kubs have been doing heavy hitting with Chino Blanco 9 for ten at the plate, including two doubles, a triple, and four home runs. Mitch Kanaan has been perfect at the plate in the season’s first two games, going 7 for seven with a double.

Tuesday, November 9, the Kits face the unbeaten Kats. At ten, the Kubs and Kids do battle at 11:30 AM.
Thursday, November 11, it will be Kats vs.Kids at ten and the Kits and Kubs facing off at 11:30 AM.
Tuesday, November 16, Kubs vs. Kats and Kids vs. Kits in the respective ten and 11:30 AM game slots.
