Kits Win Twice To Build A Two-Game Lead In North Shore Softball

A three-run 7th inning by the Kits erased a one-run deficit for an 11 -9 victory in a back-and-forth affair at North Shore Park Tuesday, December 20. Pitcher Jerry Wollman held the Kats in check in the bottom of the seventh for his sixth victory. Kit's third baseman Bob Kane continued his hot-hitting spree with two singles and two doubles. His timely 7th-inning two-base hit drove two of the three runs in the three-run seventh-inning rally. Cubbie Kutchinski led the cats with four for four, including a double and a triple. Kits. 11. Kats. 9.

In Tuesday's second game, "Walt Ewald's Kubs" slammed 22 hits and rolled past the "Kids" 17 to 11. Mike Footlick, Mike Hines, and Doug Righter drove in four runs each. Joe Harrington's single and triple, plated and three rbi for the "Kids. Walt Ewald picked up his sixth mound victory holding the Kids to one run over the last four innings.

Everybody hit for "Kutchinski's Kats" in a 15 to 9 triumph over "Norton's Kits." In North Shore action on Thursday, December 22. Pitcher Pete Calabrese shut out the "Kits" in five of seven innings pitched for his fifth win of the season. Larry McCurdy led the "Kids" with three hits, including a home run.

"Hannah's Kids" outlasted the "Kubs" of Captain Walt Ewald in a wild 16- 14 contest. John "Doc" Dreger and Frank Sirios tallied four hits each for Gordon's Kits. All players on both sides contributed at least one hit. Final score. Kids 16, Kubs 14.
