“Kubs” and “Kats” battle for the lead in North Shore Softball.

"Kubs" under captain Frank Sirois avenged an earlier defeat by the "Kats" of captain Walt Ewald to tie up both squads at 5-1 at North Shore.


One streak ended and another continued as the third week of action in The Three-Quarter Century Club's intraclub competition found the "Kubs" under captain Frank Sirois avenging an earlier defeat by the "Kats" of captain Walt Ewald to tie up both squads at 5-1. At the other end of the standings, the "Kids" winless string grew to six with losses to the "Kits" and "Kubs."
The see-saw "Kats-Kubs" encounter found the "Kubs" winning by a 15-12 margin. "Kub's" offensive power showed from the first batter when Chino Blanco unloaded a 250ft over the outfield fence home run. The two teams traded offensive punches throughout the seven-inning affair.
Blanco ended the game with three home runs for the game and a season total of eight. Both the “Kats” and “Kubs” won handily on Thursday, November 18, to conclude the third week of competition with identical 5-1 win-loss records.
Thanksgiving week will find the Club playing only on November 23 when the "Kubs" and "Kits" tangle at 10 AM, and the "Kids" and "Kats" clash at 11:30 AM. There is no game is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, with a full slate of games on tap Tuesday, November 30, when "Kits" vs. "Kats" and "Kubs" vs. "Kids."
Good news came across the Canadian Border this week in the person of Jerry Mayea, Jim Scala and Yvan Millete, who is new to Club, all three-saw action on Tuesday and Thursday this week. COVID-19 restrictions kept these three at home until a week ago. The Club is looking for the arrival of other players from north of the border, as late arrivals from the states.
