Mahaffey Theater, Dominos Pizza Cited For Code Violations
Live roaches, mold in the ice machine and food stored at potentially hazardous temperatures are among the code violations.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Live roaches, mold in the ice machine and food stored at potentially hazardous temperatures are among the code violations Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found last week at Pinellas County restaurants.
Los Mexicanos, 38954 U.S. 19, Tarpon Springs, was cited for 43 violations on Jan. 2 and then had 24 violations during a follow-up inspection on Jan. 3. Violations included storing raw chicken with raw beef in the cooler, a mold-like substance in the ice machine, hot water not provided at the employee hand-washing sink, and refried beans, tomato sauce and flan stored at potentially hazardous temperatures.
Dominos Pizza at 365 8th St., St. Petersburg, didn’t deliver when it came to meeting health codes. The restaurant received nine violations on Jan. 4 including an employee preparing food without a hair restraint, sliced cheese and cooked pasta stored on the floor of the walk-in cooler and no hot water or paper towels at the hand-washing sink.

Restaurant Ma Hai at 1915 Drew St. in Clearwater was temporarily closed after receiving seven code violations on Jan. 3. Inspectors took the restaurant to task for live and dead roaches in the kitchen, not having a properly sealed wood surface for preparing food and storing raw food over ready-to-eat food in the cooler.
Frescos Waterfront Bistro at 300 2nd Ave. S., St. Petersburg, was cited for five violations on Jan. 3 including operating without a license from the Division of Hotels and Restaurants.

Also cited by inspectors during a Jan. 3 inspection was the Mahaffey Theater, 400 1st St. S., St. Petersburg. The theater had 10 violations including storing cans of butane with sugar packets and oil, a soiled soda gun at the bar and half-in-half stores at an improper temperature.
Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors made note of three Pinellas County restaurant that passed inspections without any violations: Kitchfix and Clean Plate Cooking at 107 Dunbar Ave., Oldsmar; Olly’s at 605 9th Ave. N., Safety Harbor; and German Knodle at 951 Central Ave.

Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
