Man Arrested After Being Accused Of Molesting Girl 24 Years Ago

The sheriff's office has arrested a 69-year-old registered sex offender accused of inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl 24 years ago.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 69-year-old registered sex offender accused of inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl 24 years ago.

Detectives began their investigation in August when the victim, now 31 years old, confronted Romeo Desrosiers of Crissman Drive North, accusing him of sexually abusing her at an undisclosed home in Pinellas County when she was a child.

When Desrosiers admitted the abuse to the victim, she reported the crime to the sheriff's office.

Desrosiers was required to register as a sex offender on May 28, 1997, after he was convicted for a lewd and lascivious act on a child. During their investigation, detectives confirmed that Desrosiers had access to the victim during the time she reported being molested.

Desrosier was arrested Monday and charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child less than 12 years old.
