Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Over Parking Spot: St. Pete Police

Charles E. Bentley, 23, faces second-degree murder charges after police said he shot and killed Gilbert Rush, 29, following an argument.

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. — A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after police said he fatally shot another man following an argument over a parking spot on Saturday morning.

Charles E. Bentley has been charged in the killing after St. Petersburg Police said that he and Gilbert Ray Bush, 29, became involved in an argument in the 200 block of 1st Avenue North on Saturday.

Police said that the two men were involved in the argument in the parking lot when Bentley and his friends were standing. When Bush indicated he wanted to park where the group was standing, the argument started, police said. Bentley then pulled out a gun and shot Bush several times, police said, and then left the scene on foot.

Bentley was arrested a short distance away and was taken into custody and charged in the shooting, police said. Bush was taken to Bayfront Hospital, but died from multiple gunshot wounds.
