Marriott Rebranding Vinoy Hotel As Part Of Autograph Collection
St. Pete's historic Vinoy hotel, which is undergoing a comprehensive renovation, unveiled its redesigned ballrooms in December.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Marriott International is rebranding St. Petersburg’s iconic Vinoy hotel as part of its Autograph Collection.
The historic hotel, which will be called The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection, previously fell under Marriott’s luxury brand, Renaissance Hotels.
As the Vinoy undergoes an extensive renovation, the official rebranding as an Autograph hotel will happen sometime this year, though no date has been set, a spokesperson for Marriott told Patch.

“With The Vinoy’s comprehensive renovations underway, we’re looking forward to joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection as the historic resort enters the next chapter of its nearly 100-year legacy in downtown St. Petersburg," the hotel's new general manager, Vanessa Williams, said in a statement provided to Patch. "The Vinoy’s timeless elegance and rich history fit naturally with the Autograph Collection’s ethos of hotels and resorts with vibrant character and distinct identity.”
News of the rebranding was first reported by St. Pete Rising.

Marriott announced renovation plans for the Vinoy in the fall of 2021.
Designed by world-renowned firms Rockwell Group and Hart Howerton, the redesign includes the resort’s veranda, porte cochère, main lobby, guest rooms, spa, ballrooms, restaurants and more, according to a news release.
In December, the Vinoy unveiled the first completed pieces of its comprehensive renovation – the Palm Court Ballroom and the Vinoy Grand Ballroom.
Each redesigned ballroom now boasts a “refreshed aesthetic infused with old-Florida grandeur as a nod to the resort’s glamorous past,” according to a news release from the hotel.
The spaces can be configured to accommodate various events — from business retreats and exhibitions to weddings, conferences, galas, and social gatherings.
The 11,520-square-foot Palm Court Ballroom has new flooring, walls and recessed ceilings and a new, neutral color palette with brown accents. The Art Deco chandeliers and sconces reflect the hotel’s history. This space can accommodate up to 1,000 people.
The smaller, 6,120-square-foot Vinoy Grand Ballroom features new carpeting, drapery and furnishings, windows overlooking a living wall of tropical greenery, and a restoration of the room's Dale Chihuly chandelier.
The Vinoy, which totals more than 60,000 square feet and opened on New Year’s Eve in 1925, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
