Missing St. Pete Man Needs Lifesaving Medication: Police

The St. Petersburg Police Department has issued a silver alert for a 75-year-old man who went missing Thursday, and needs medication.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 75-year-old man from St. Petersburg who was last seen on Thursday has missed more than one dose of medication that helps him live, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

The St. Petersburg Police Department has issued a silver alert for Joseph Nelson, Jr, who was last seen near Second Avenue North and 13th Street N.

Nelson left his home about 3:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of 13th Street South, and went to a friend's house, according to police.

A silver alert has been issued by the St. Petersburg Police Department for 75-year-old Joseph Nelson, Jr.

A witness told investigators Nelson was in his car near the friend's house around 5:40 p.m., but the friend was out of town.

Nelson is bald with a gray goatee, stands five-feet-nine and weighs 175 pounds, according to law enforcement officials.

Investigators said Nelson was last seen wearing khaki pants with a plaid shirt.

His right foot is amputated, and he was not wearing a prosthetic, police said.

Nelson is a Black man and drives a 2010 Nissan Armada.
