Motorcyclist Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries In Crash
St. Petersburg Police say alcohol appears to have played a role in s serious crash at 12:57 a.m. Saturday, Aug.. 18.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- St. Petersburg Police say alcohol appears to have played a role in s serious crash at 12:57 a.m. Saturday, Aug.. 18 at 23rd Street North and 49th Street North.
A 2006 Honda VTX1300 motorcycle, driven by Robert Douglas Blume, 47, was northbound on 49th Street North approaching the curve for Sheffield Lake at 23rd Avenue North when it failed to negotiate the curve and continued straight across a small patch of grass.
Upon re-entering the roadway, Blume lost control of his motorcycle and the motorcycle struck the ground on its right side. The motorcycle slid across 23rd Avenue North and came to rest on a grass field in Sheffield Lake Park.

Blume, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries.
