New Whole Foods Celebrates Grand Opening In St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The new 40,100-square-foot Whole Foods Market in St. Petersburg celebrated its grand opening Wednesday.

The grocery store, located at 201 38th Ave. N., opened its doors to the public for the first time at 9 a.m., according to a news release from the company. Moving forward, the store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“As a Tampa-area native, opening a Whole Foods Market store in St. Petersburg feels like a personal milestone. This moment has been eagerly awaited, and I’m honored to be part of the team bringing our store to such a vibrant community,” Mario Torres, store team leader, said. “This store has so much to offer, including knowledgeable team members in every department who are passionate about good food and ready to meet our new customers!”

The new St. Petersburg store offers shoppers:

• a full-service seafood counter with made in-house and ready-to-cook options;
• an array of certified organic, conventional and Sourced for Good local options;
• a specialty department dedicated to cheesemakers and artisan producers;
• a curated grocery section;
• 365 by Whole Foods Market brand items;
• a full-service meat counter with butchers available to cut steaks to order;
• more than 180 craft beers;
• a prepared foods department;
• a bakery department;
• a Whole Body department;
• more than 800 products from Florida.

Whole Foods Market is also contributing a refrigerated van to Good Neighbors through its Nourishing Our Neighborhoods initiative. Introduced by the retailer in 2020, this program is dedicated to strengthening the operational capacities of local food rescue organizations, empowering them to effectively distribute surplus food to areas where it’s needed the most.

The company also plans to make a charitable donation to the St. Pete Free Clinic, a nonprofit that aims to improve food accessibility throughout Pinellas County.
