'Norton's Kits" Win 9-4, Take First Place

In first game action at North Shore Park, Thursday, February 9th, Kaz Cora pitched and batted "Hanna's Kids" to a 12-7 win over "Ewald's Kubs" 12-7.

Mitch Kannan and Joe Harrington were seven for seven to lead the "Kids" offense, and Barb Ewald's 3 for 4 paced the "Kubs."

The winners jumped to a 5-1 lead after three innings. Kubs offense came to life in the bottom of the fourth with four runs to forge a tie after four innings. Winning the fifth inning 2-1, the Kubs pushed ahead 7-6. Six runs in the last two at-bats sealed the victory for the Kids as Gora held the Kub offense in check.

In second-game action: Ed Asay continued hitting excellence for the "Kits" 3 for 3 as Kats fall 9-4. Jerry Wollman held the 21 batters faced to just 4 runs on 12 hits as "Norton's Kits" regained the lead in the Three-Quarter Century Softball Club pennant chase. Frank Sirois, Ethel Lehman, and Chuck Bochicchio had two hits each for the "Kutchinski's Kats."

Earlier in the week, Doug Righter led “Kutchinski’s Kats” to a 13-9 win over “Ewald’s Kubs.” Doug chipped in two singles and a home run to send the Kubs to defeat.

Frank Sirois went 4/4 for the “Kats. “Cubby" Kutchinski and Dave Glauner had perfect 3/3/ days at the plate. Walt Ewald led his team with the bat and from the pitching rubber. Walt provided over half his team’s offense with a single, double, triple, and 5rbi.

In second game action on Tuesday, February 7,” Hannah’s Kids” bested the Norton’s “Kits” 11-7. behind Kaz Gore’s pitching. Dennis Kuvalanka and Jim Curtis swung hot bats, going 4/4. Ed Asay continued with a hot bat going 3/3 for the Kits.
