Patch Picks: Where to Watch NCAA basketball in St. Petersburg

It's all basketball for the next two weeks, as the NCAA playoffs move from 16, to 8, to 4, to 2-team match-ups. Here are five places to watch the games.

1.) World of Beer, 5226 4th St. N: This is the most casual place on the list. You can sit in the World of Beer dressed up for an evening out, or in a T-shirt and shorts and feel equally comfortable. The beer selection is amazing. The food is only OK, although staff will grill fresh burgers outside on nice afternoons.

2.) Outback, 1900 4th St. N: This is the secret find on the list. Tucked away in the corner of a big building across the street from the Sunken Gardens, this is never too crowded and has giant, big screen HDTVs all around the bar. The beer selection is OK. And, of course, you can always have a steak or Bloomin' Onion while you watch the action.

3.) Ferg's, 1320 Central: St Pete's famous downtown sports bar is just a baseball's throw from Tropicana Field. But  is also a great place to watch basketball. It's comfortable. You can sit inside or outside. There's a menu of burgers and other bar foods. This is a place to watch with other know-it-all basketball fans.

4.) Courtside Grille, 110 Fountain Parkway N: Owned by a former NBA player, the Courtside Grille is one of the best places in the area to watch a basketball game. With more than 32 big-screen TVs and four, giant 5x7 monitors, you can catch all the action while drinking beer and eating burgers, wings, pastas and salads. The St. Petersburg Courtside Grille is located at 110 Fountain Parkway North, in the Carillon/Gateway area, near the Howard Frankland Bridge.

5.) Lee Roy Selmon's, 2424 Tyrone Blvd: This is a great place to go if you want to eat a big meal and watch the basketball games at the same time. Selmon's even has a special "Buzzer Beater" brisket sandwich, with slaw and fries. It has all the necessary equipment: TVs everywhere; plenty of cold beer; even free wifi! And you won't leave hungry...
