Pinellas Detention Deputy Fired After Drunk Driving Arrest
An off-duty Pinellas County detention deputy was fired after the Florida Highway Patrol said she caused a crash while driving drunk.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- An off-duty Pinellas County detention deputy was fired after the Florida Highway Patrol said she caused a crash while she was driving under the influence.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Professional Standards Bureau fired Kimberly Peck, 52, on Tuesday following her arrest on Monday, Feb. 11, on drunk driving charges.
The crash occurred at 4:22 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 54th Avenue North and 71st Street in unincorporated St. Petersburg. According to the FHP, Peck was driving her personal vehicle north on 71st Street when she attempted to turn east onto 54th Avenue North. Investigators say she swung the vehicle too wide while making the right turn and hit another vehicle.

Investigators say Peck showed obvious signs of impairment and was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
In accordance with sheriff's office policy, she was terminated from the job she had held since 2002. She worked as a detention deputy assigned to the Pinellas County Jail.

Peck and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
