Police Say Man Crashed SUV Into Store After Threatening Woman
The Midtown Supermarket remains closed today after a man crashed his SUV through it.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- The Midtown Supermarket remains closed today after a man crashed his SUV through it.
No one was in the store at 1856 18th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, when Charles Reed, 32, reportedly drove his SUV into the building at 3:43 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10. However, witnesses say they saw him getting out of the crashed car and fleeing the scene.
Police were nearby, responding to a report of a man threatening a woman with a gun. The woman reported that Reed pulled a gun on her near 7th Avenue South and 19th Street South at 3:41 a.m. Police saw an SUV matching the crashed vehicle leaving the scene.

Shortly after the crash, officers caught up with Reed and arrested him. They found a gun inside the SUV.
He's been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, resisting an officer without violence and possession of a firearm by a felon.
