Police Seek Next Of Kin For Pedestrian Seriously Injured: SPPD

The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking for help from the public identifying family members of a 61-year-old injured in a car crash.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying next of kin for a 61-year-old pedestrian who was seriously injured in St. Pete on Monday night.

A 2017 Dodge minivan drove northbound on the curb lane of Fourth Street North around 9:40 p.m., said police.

Detectives did not provide the cross street.

Investigators said when the victim, Marvin Hardy, stepped onto the road, he froze and then tried to return to the curb.

As the driver swerved to try and miss the victim, he hit him with the front of his minivan, said authorities.

Law enforcement officials said Hardy's head hit the windshield, and he fell on the sidewalk.

The driver did stay at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators, said police.

Hardy was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital, said detectives.

Deputies said the victim was last listed in critical condition.

No charges have been filed against the driver, according to police.
