Police: Stolen Car Crashed Into Cruiser, Tried to Hit Cop, K-9
St. Petersburg police say the teens inside the stolen vehicle have all been brought into custody after the Wednesday morning incident.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 6 a.m. call to St. Petersburg Police about a suspicious car resulted in the arrest of three teenagers and a near miss for an officer and his K-9 partner.
According to the police department, that suspicious vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Dayton Street South. A K-9 officer and his four-legged partner responded to the scene and discovered the car in question had been previously reported stolen.
The officer and dog got out of their cruiser and approached the car on foot, the agency wrote in an email.

At that point, “driver of the stolen car backed into the unoccupied K-9 cruiser and tried to hit the K-9 Officer and his dog,” the email said. The driver took off, leaving an uninjured officer and K-9 behind. The cruiser did suffer minor damage, police said.
Police used stop sticks in the area of 13th Avenue South and 30th Street to disable the stolen vehicle, the agency said. Three teenagers inside the car bolted, but two were caught rather quickly. A K-9 found the third hiding nearby.
