Three Quarter-Century Pennant Chase Sees No Clear Champion.

Pitcher Pete” Calabrese shut down Norton’s Kits with five consecutive scoreless innings Tuesday, February 21, at North Shore Park for Kutchinski’s Kats. Calabrese surrendered only six runs in the Kats 18-6 victory. Terry Miller and Will Michaels delivered 4/4 performances at the plate for the Kats.

As if Pete Calabrese’s allotment of only six runs in Tuesday’s first game action was not stingy enough in tying “Norton’s Kits” in knots. Walt Ewald, captain of “Ewald’s Kubs,” proved more miserly as he clamped down on “Hannah’s Kids,” allowing only three runs.

The Kubs’ big bats unloaded a 23-hit barrage that had every batter in the lineup getting a hit.

Bret Valery, Mike Callihan, and Frank Harrell collected 3-hits. Callihan and Doug Righter doubled. Will Michael’s 2-for-2 plate performance for Kids to finish 6 for-6.
