ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Florida Highway Patrol has charged a 34-year-old St. Petersburg man with racing and reckless driving for racing his car along Intestate 275 Northbound near the Roosevelt exit, which caused a multiple car accident on May 12.

The driver's car started to spin as he raced another driver on the interstate, and it spun into another car, investigators said. The collision caused both cars to flip over, and as the vehicle that was originally racing flipped, it also hit another car and caused it to flip over, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries. Drivers in the first two vehicles didn't suffer any injuries, said authorities.
