ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Here's the latest restaurant and bar news in the St. Petersburg area:

Five-O Donut Co. Expanding into St. Pete

Five-O Donut Co., a donut chain with locations throughout the Sarasota and Bradenton areas, is expanding north into St. Petersburg.

The company has signed a lease to open at 1003 4th Street N., which formerly housed Uptown Snoballs, according to St. Pete Rising.

Owner Christine Nordstrom said, “We are so excited to be coming over the bridge. It’s been a goal of mine for some time to bring our ‘arrestingly good donuts’ to St. Pete.”

Doormét Closes St. Pete Restaurant

Doormét, a gourmet food delivery restaurant, has shut its doors in downtown St. Petersburg’s 600 block, according to the St. Pete Catalyst.

“We have had consistent issues in St. Pete, everything from finding help, to growing the business, to increased food costs, to increased labor costs, high rents and a generally difficultly in reaching residents and getting orders from homes at night,” owners wrote in an email to customers.

Its Tampa location will remain open.

St. Pete Coffee Shop Opening Manatee County Location

The St. Petersburg-based The Blend Coffee & Cocktails is opening a new location in Manatee County.

In what will be its first location outside St. Pete, the coffeeshop is among the newest tenants announced for Gateway Commons at I-75 and Moccasin Willow Road, the Bradenton Herald reported.

Bin 6 South Opens

An intimate restaurant and wine bar, Bin 6 South, has opened at 330 6th Street S.

It’s two chefs trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, and both previously worked for Michelin-starred restaurants, according to I Love the Burg. Their menu focuses on seasonal offerings.

Space is limited at this cozy eatery with guests having the option of sitting at a wooden bar looking into the kitchen or a six-person table.

Thai-Am Restaurant Reopens After Closing for COVID-19

After closing its dining room in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thai-Am shared on Facebook that it has reopened its on 4th Street.

The restaurant began welcoming customers back on Oct. 29.

Before this, Thai-Am offered takeout and delivery.

To celebrate its grand reopening, the restaurant is offering specials throughout November, including 20 percent off online orders of $40 or more and deals on gift cards - $30 for $35 gift card, $50 for a $60 gift card and $100 for a $125 gift card.

Drunken Taco Replaces Sea Dog Cantina

The Drunken Taco has opened on Beach Boulevard in Gulfport, taking over the space formerly occupied by Sea Dog Cantina, which was operated by Sea Dog Brewing.

The original Drunken Taco restaurant is in Fort Lauderdale Beach and offers franchising opportunities.

In addition to a range of tacos and Mexican-inspired appetizers, the restaurant also sells burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, stuffed burritos and sizzling fajita platters.

It’s also known for its specialty margaritas and 301 types of tequila.

Bascom’s Chop House Owners to Open St. Pete restaurant

The owners of Bascom’s Chop House in Clearwater are opening a new St. Petersburg restaurant Oaks on 4th, in December.

It will take over the space formerly occupied by Quickies BBQ at 4351 4th Street N., Creative Loafing reported.

Owners described the restaurant’s seasonal menu as “refined rustic.”

Christmas Pop-Up Bar Returns to Intermezzo

Miracle at Mezzo, a Christmas pop-up bar, returns to Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails in the Edge District starting on Black Friday.

“We will completely redesign our space into a magical Christmas wonderland complete with holiday mugs and seasonal cocktails,” Intermezzo shared in a Facebook post, adding that the pop-up “will get even the grouchiest grinch in the holiday spirit.”

In recent weeks, Intermezzo has been sharing pictures of Christmas-themed cocktails, including The Christmapolitan, a rum drink called Yippe Ki Yay Mother (Expletive) and Elfing Around, which mixes a mulled wine reduction with London dry gin.

Uptown Eats Mulls Expansion As Mize Gallery Closes

With artist Chad Mize closing his gallery at 689 Dr. MLK Jr, the restaurant next door, Uptown Eats, is considering expanding into the space, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The restaurant is owned by the artist’s fiancé and Mize would likely curate art shows and host other art events in the space if it expands.
