ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at noon on Thursday at the BB&T Bank branch, 7100 4th St. N. in St. Petersburg.

According to police, a man entered the bank, implied he had a gun and demanded money. He got
away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detectives are looking into whether this could be connected to similar robberies in Pinellas County. St. Pete Police, however, do not believe this is the same man currently wanted in connection with a series of credit union robberies and carjackings throughout Tampa Bay, including the attempted robbery and shooting of a Brinks armored truck driver and a bystander at the GTE Financial credit union in Valrico Dec. 6.
