Sarasota Man Dies From Injuries In St. Pete Car Crash

A medical emergency caused a one-vehicle crash Wednesday in St. Pete that killed a Sarasota man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 60-year-old man died after he lost control of his car May 6 on Ulmerton Road near Intestate 275 around 6:56 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The man traveled eastbound on Ulmerton Road on the entrance ramp to Interstate 275 when he experienced medical complications. This caused his vehicle to leave the travel lanes and crash into a guardrail. Florida Highway Patrol responded, and EMS took the victim to a local hospital, where he died.

The victim's identity has not been released yet as authorities notify next of kin. The accident report said he is a Sarasota resident.
