Sexually Explicit Texts, Emails From Spring Hill Man: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A Spring Hill man was arrested by St. Petersburg police for sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl, authorities said in a news release.

The minor was actually an undercover St. Pete police detective having an email and text message exchange with 58-year-old Thomas McMichael, according to authorities. Police said he also sent a photo of his genitals.

The online conversations took place over a 10-day period, police said.

Authorities said that McMichael is charged with:

• Promotion of sexual performance by a child
• Transmission of harmful material to a minor
• Seduction of a child using internet or electronic device
• Unlawful use of a two-way communications device
