Skyway Bridge Now Open
Heavy fog forced the bridge's closing for several hours Thursday morning.
Update: The Florida Highway Patrol announced that the Sunshine Skyway Bridge had opened to traffic once again around 11:20 a.m. Thursday. Heavy fog forced the bridge's closing earlier in the morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Motorists who use the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in their commutes will want to find a different route.
The Florida Highway Patrol has announced the bridge is closed in both directions due to heavy fog.
“Visibility has been reduced to less than 100 feet across the span,” Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in an email to media.
The highway patrol reported the bridge remained closed just before 11 a.m. Thursday as visibility was still impaired. Troopers are continuing to monitor conditions.
