Smoke On Skyway Bridge Approach No Cause For Alarm
St. Petersburg Police say a truck fire is producing a lot of smoke Friday afternoon, but is not blocking bridge traffic.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Motorists who happen to notice a billow of smoke in the air on the southbound approach to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Friday afternoon have no reason to panic.
That’s according to the St. Petersburg Police Department, which sent out a notification at 2:33 p.m. Friday that a truck fire is to blame for smoky conditions. That fire is on the exit ramp for the fishing pier and rest area.
“Although there is a lot of smoke, traffic can still continue southbound on I-275 to the Skyway Bridge,” police wrote in an email to media.
