ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, in partnership with Sunstar Paramedics, has formed a strike team to respond to coronavirus calls and reduce the potential exposure to other members of the fire rescue and emergency medical technician teams.

The COVID-19 Strike Team will be in a constant state of readiness where needed and will be strategically located throughout the city.

The team will be in operation for 30 days, deploying three daytime units from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the possibility of adding hours if needed.

The strike team won't have access to St. Petersburg fire stations to avoid the risk of spreading the virus to fire department personnel.
