St. Pete Graffiti Artist's Spree Comes to An End, Cops Say

Police officers say they have identified the spray painter wanted in several recent criminal mischief cases.

A 28-year-old St. Petersburg man is in hot water after police say they’ve identified him as the graffiti artist who’s been adding his own designs to local business exteriors as of late.

Jared Hernandez of 1510 35th St. N. was charged Wednesday with six counts of criminal mischief after being connected with a surveillance video released by the department in mid-January, an email to media from the department stated.

The video in question was captured at just one of the recent crime scenes. In it, the artist painted the word “Av8r” or aviator on the wall outside the Lucky Dill, 277 Central Ave. It seems there were several other similar incidents leading up to Wednesday’s arrest.

Hernandez was being held in the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $1,500 bond. Jail records indicate he’s been arrested a few times before on charges including aggravated battery and driving on a suspended license.
