St. Pete High's Dorey Passmore Is an Artist, Swimmer, Animal Rescue Volunteer

Dorey Passmore draws support from family and friends, and finds inspiration in the words of Dr. Seuss.

ST. PETERSBURG – Dorey Passmore, a St. Petersburg High School junior, draws strength from family and friends. Although it's common for teens to succumb to peer pressure, Dorey says she always tries to listen to her heart.

This philosophy sounds simple but often eludes adolescents and adults. But Dorey says: "I try my hardest and I do what feels right."

As an 11th-grader, she stays busy. Dorey's artwork recently was selected for the 2011 Scholastic Arts Awards. She received a Merit Award for her painting, Fishing Line.

Dorey's goal is to be a marine biologist, and she is working hard to prepare hersef for the rigors of college. She  says she finds inspiration in her parents, who no doubt are proud of her accomplishments as well.

Dorey Passmore is Patch’s Whiz Kid of the week.
