Largo Man Charged In 2nd BB&T Bank Robbery

A man charged with robbing the BB&T Bank in St. Pete in February has also been charged with robbing another BB&T in December.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A Largo man accused of robbing the BB&T Bank in St. Petersburg in February has also been charged with the robbery of another BB&T Bank in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Derrick Newsome, 48, of Country Club Drive was already in jail after being charged Feb. 19 with the robbery of the BB&T Bank at 100 34th St. N. on Feb. 18.

After investigating Newsome, on March 5 Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives also charged him with the robbery of the BB&T Bank at 5511 Park St. N. on Dec. 4.

In both cases, law enforcement officials said Newsome made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He's now facing two counts of robbery.
