St. Pete Man Arrested In Sting For Meet-Up With 14-Year-Old

St. Petersbug Police arrested a man who thought he was talking to a 14-year-old girl via his phone, and he traveled to meet her.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL —A 40-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested on felony charges after he used his phone and drove to a location in an attempt to have sex with a 14-year-old girl on June 17, a news release said.

An undercover detective posed as the girl as they communicated electronically with Robert Lowell Staton II. Staton sent inappropriate photos of himself to "the girl," and he drove to the 4100 block of 16th Street North to meet her, police said.

After he arrived, authorities charged Staton with seduction of a child using internet or electronic device, transmission of harmful material to a minor, unlawful use of two-way communications device and traveling to meet a minor.
