St. Pete Motorcycle Cop Grazed By Car During Traffic Stop

A St. Petersburg Police motorcycle traffic enforcement officer received minor injuries during a traffic stop.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Shortly after 8 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, a St. Petersburg Police motorcycle traffic enforcement officer received minor injuries during a traffic stop.

According to St. Petersburg Police, the officer stopped a westbound car on Gandy Boulevard near 4th Street.

As he was standing at the driver's side window handing over the citation, a Camry slowed down to pass as required by the state’s Move Over law (drivers must slow down or move to another lane when first-responders are on the side of the road).

However, a commercial box truck was unable to slow down and crashed into the Camry. The impact pushed the Camry forward, clipping the officer.

The officer suffered a minor injury that didn't require hospitalization. The driver of the Camry was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
