St. Pete Motorcyclist In Critical Condition Following Crash
St. Petersburg Police are investigating a serious crash involving a motorcyclist.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- St. Petersburg Police are investigating a serious crash involving a motorcyclist.
At 9:19 p.m. Friday, June 1, a 2008 Mazda CX-7 driven by Jessica L. Bays, 42, was heading south on 49th Street South, preparing to make a left turn onto 15th Avenue South.
A 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Matthew D. Chappell, 27, was heading north on 49th Street South, approaching 15th Avenue South. Bays said she did not see the motorcycle heading her way and turned in Chappell's path.

The motorcycle struck the front passenger corner of the Mazda and Chappell was thrown from the motorcycle. Chappell was not wearing a helmet or any other safety equipment. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
