St. Pete Native Dons 3 Breasts for 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

The Tampa Bay area's own Angela Bassett plays a three-breasted woman on the FX series' fourth season.

“American Horror Story” fans who tune in to watch season four might notice a familiar face, some familiar settings and an uncanny similarity to a recent viral story that broke out of the Tampa Bay area.

This season’s standalone story, dubbed “Freak Show,” includes a character with three breasts. While it’s not Tampa’s Jasmine Tridevil, whose heavily debunked story about breast implant surgery made international news recently, the actress involved is from the Bay area.

Angela Bassett is a St. Petersburg native, according to The Tampa Tribune. She portrays Desiree Dupree in the show’s fourth season run.

Set in Jupiter, Fla., in the 1950s, “Freak Show” focuses on a troupe of performers and “their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience, the show’s website says.

Casting for season four includes return performances by Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Emma Roberts, among others. Bassett also appeared in “American Horror Story: Coven,” as the voodoo queen Marie Laveau. She received an Emmy nomination for that performance.
