St. Pete Police Make Arrest In October Hit-And-Run Crash

St. Pete Police say the driver left the cyclist on the road suffering from critical injuries.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Nearly five months a sports utility vehicle hit a bicyclist on 1st Avenue North and left the cyclist critically injured in the road, St. Petersburg Police have made an arrest.

On Sunday, March 4, police arrested Quinn D. Hessinger, 27, and charged him with leaving the scene of a serious bodily injury crash, operating an unregistered vehicle and providing false information during a crash investigation.

The charges stem from a hit-and-run crash that occurred that occurred around 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 in the 4200 block of 1st Avenue North between 41st and 43rd streets.

Police say Connor Bolton, 23, was riding his bike east against the flow of traffic when he was struck head on by an SUV traveling west. Police say the driver of the SUV stopped for a minute but then drove off.

Bolton was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with critical injuries.

Police later located the SUV and used DNA evidence to link it to the crash. However, they were unable to locate the driver until they received a tip alerting them to Hessinger’s whereabouts.

Hessinger is being held at the Pinellas County Jail.
