St. Pete Police Make Arrest In Shooting Death Of Man In Car

St. Petersburg Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in the shooting death of a resident in his car on Oct. 29.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- St. Petersburg Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in the shooting death of a resident in his car on Oct. 29.

Lashaud Golden is facing murder charges in the shooting death of Derrick L. Williams Jr., 29.

Williams was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head after his car crashed into another vehicle in the 100 block of 38th Street North at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 29 (see related story).

Golden was arrested a day after the murder on an unrelated carjacking/shooting. He is accused of shooting Gene Carter in the back during an attempt to rob him near 35th Street South and 4th Avenue South.

Detectives were able to connect him to Williams' shooting as well.

Golden faces charges of second-degree murder, attempted felony murder, carjacking (with weapon or firearm) and delinquent in possession of a firearm.
