St. Pete Police Officer Caught On Video Using Racial Slur Resigns
A St. Petersburg Police officer has resigned after a cell phone video showed him using a racial slur.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A St. Petersburg Police officer has resigned after a cell phone video was brought to the attention of police supervisors showing him using a racial slur.
After viewing the video, supervisors met with Officer Michael Naples on Tuesday, June 12, and he resigned from the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Naples was a probationary officer who was sworn in on July 10, 2017.

Naples responded to a call Monday, June 11, involving a dispute between a pizza delivery person and a customer. The customer reportedly struck the pizza delivery driver's car with a fire extinguisher.
In the video, Naples is heard in a verbal exchange with the customer during which Naples calls the man a name using a racial slur and profanity.

"We hold our officers to the highest professional standard. The use of profanity and racial slurs is not tolerated under any circumstances," sand Chief of Police Anthony Holloway.
