St. Pete Police Officer Injured When Patrol Car Struck

A St. Petersburg Police officer had to be extricated from his patrol car when it was struck by a Lexus.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A St. Petersburg Police officer had to be extricated from his patrol car when it was struck by a Lexus.

At 9:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27. the officer was assisting the fire department and Duke Energy while they repaired some downed power lines. The police officer was inside her parked patrol car with her lights activated at Melrose Avenue South and 31st. Street to divert traffic when a Lexus driven by Harry Fields, 66.

The police officer was extricated and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She is hospitalized in stable condition.
